Zinc: how is this vitamin helpful when it comes to immunity?
1. Zinc maintains the mucous membranes which are a defense mechanism of fighting off illness. When the mucous membranes are weakened, our bodies are more prone to allowing viral infections to pass through that membrane; therefore, making us it easier to get sick.
2. Zinc helps to relieve oxidative stress on the body through its antioxidant properties. When our bodies are stressed, the risk of getting sick increases drastically.
3. Zinc helps to regulate the inflammation response in our body. When we get sick, inflammation will be present. Taking zinc will allow the body to already be on top of the inflammatory process.
4. Zinc supports the production of immune cells.
5. Research is showing that zinc has antiviral properties to help prevent the replicating of the viral infections, such as rhinovirus.
